The Twilight Saga  Casting Rob and Kristen. Robert Pattinson's audition consisted of a love scene with Kristen Stewart on Hardwicke's bed. ''The room shorted out, the sky opened up, and I was like, 'This is going to be good.''. ''Her mixture of innocence and longing just knocked me out,'' Hardwicke says. Hoping she'd found her Bella, she took a red-eye flight to Pittsburgh — where Stewart, then 17, was shooting Greg Mottola's Adventureland — and did an impromptu screen test with the actress. ''She'd been shooting all night, but she learned her lines on the spot,'' Hardwicke says. ''She danced on the bed and chased pigeons in the park. I was captivated.' read more

Twilight: Will it be a hit?
''We're not even 5 percent of Potter sales. We're not even a toenail on that body,'' says director Catherine Hardwicke. ''Ours is a character film, a little more sophisticated teenage Romeo and Juliet.''
After seeing the first cut, the author's only real concern was that Edward and Bella's steamy kissing scene was too hot for the beginning of a relationship. ''You're not going to have anything to work with as the series continues,'' Meyer told Hardwicke, who cut the sexy wide shots in exchange for more chaste close-ups. ''In a weird way I think it's better,'' says Hardwicke. ''It's less like other movies.'' read more

Kristen Stewart: 2008 Q and A ''I usually don't look like such a skank, I danced on the bar there three nights this week, and my legs are covered in bruises, hopefully, the Twilight fans won't totally freak out.''
''We had to rewrite and improvise a lot of the most intense scenes, because Kristen will not say something if she doesn't feel good about it,'' recalls Hardwicke. ''Kristen is very tough and she does not tolerate bulls---.''
After being cast, Stewart performed a pivotal love scene on Hardwicke's bed with the four leading contenders for the role of Edward, including Robert Pattinson. ''Catherine liked a couple of the guys, and I was like, 'Are you joking? I can't do the movie unless Rob does it,''' Stewart says. ''He got it, and we could, like, see each other.'' As Hardwicke puts it, ''She would have strangled me if I didn't pick him.'' read more

Robert Pattinson: Interview with a Vampire
We did not have a good option [for casting Edward] until Rob came along. And the movie rests entirely on his shoulders.
Pattinson and Stewart's onscreen chemistry is crucial to the movie's success, so the actor can be forgiven if he acted smitten with his costar when the cameras weren't rolling. ''In the beginning I thought to myself, 'Because she's so serious, I've got to be really serious,''' he says. ''I didn't speak for about two months so I would seem really intense. I would only ever talk about the movie. And I kept recommending all these books. It didn't really work, though. Then I started falling apart and my character started breaking down. I felt like an idiot just following her around, saying, 'You really should read some Zola — and there's this amazing Truffaut movie.' And she started calling me on things: 'Have you actually watched this movie? Yeah? What's it about?' 'It's about a guy on a train.' 'Did you just look at the photo on the cover of the DVD?!''' On more than one occasion, Pattinson was overheard asking Stewart to marry him — proposals that the actress, who's had the same boyfriend since she was 16, got used to shrugging off. read more

Twilight. Where does the Fandemonoium Lead Now CH on Rob and Kristen. ''I think she's had a lot of trouble,'' says Hardwicke. ''She knows it's important, but it's not her favorite part of the job.'' Pattinson seems to have a better game face, drowsily mystified when teenage girls throw themselves onto his moving car or when Tyra Banks asks him to bite her neck on her talk show. He did have one flash of rebellion, however: ''I cannot wait to cut my hair,'' he told EW in September. ''It's so annoying! I was at a photo shoot the other day, and people were saying, 'They say we can't touch your hair. You have trademarked hair!' No, I don't.'' And so, despite the studio's request that his ragged mop not be touched, he cut off his hair in between press junkets. read more

Are you naturally clumsy like your character?
Well, I'm definitely not the most graceful being, but it's really difficult to be clumsy on cue. It's like physical comedy. It was fun.

Stephanie Meyer planned An Alternate Ending to Eclipse?

With the filming of Breaking Dawn completed, and fans eagerly awaiting it’s release, it may come as a surprise to some that Stephanie Meyer had an alternate ending planned for Eclipse, the 3rd book in series.  According to Stephanie, there was talk with her publishers to end the series within 3 books.

Zimbio gives us the details :

Twilight fans may be surprised to know that Stephanie Meyer at one point outlined an alternate ending for Eclipse, the third book in the series. At the time, Meyer explains that publishers worried the series would go stale if there were too many books so the plan was to cut it off at three.

While Meyer already had ideas about her characters’ stories well beyond a third book, she consented to work out an ending for Eclipse that would have brought the series to a close. In August of 2010, Stephenie gave an interview currently available ontwilightseriestheories.com where she talked about the thought process that went into that alternate ending, but ultimately declined to give its major details.

“See if I tell them, I can’t write. And so that becomes…’cause then you’ve destroyed it. But um, there was a certain point in time not as much faith in the series and I was told to end it at three. And I’d never planned to do…you know I was…There were three books right? There were supposed to be three books and there was no idea of it going on, and in my head it was this long series. And so it was like: ‘No, we should end this.’ Because you know if you go on too long sometimes series lose their steam or whatever. And the story was just so wide open then. There was so much that wasn’t done and so to have ended it there, it would have had to be a radical ending. Um, radically different. There [were] some fantasy elements that I don’t think people would’ve seen coming. I don’t think they would have responded well. My mom hates it! Hates the ending. My sister was cool with it. And you know I could see that because there were things…Some people, the way they’re tied to the characters are dependent on certain aspects of those characters, and now I’m gonna sound really really bad but it messed with that for some people. But then once I started thinking about it I was really intrigued by that conversation. There was this really dramatic scene and Bella doesn’t know what’s going on and the visuals in it were really strong for me. And so then I wanted to write it. You know back when nobody cared about the books and I could do whatever I wanted, I was like Bree it was gonna be on the website. That was the plan all along. I would write up this alternate ending, but will people throw rocks at me if I write this? There’s a possibility! Oh and then people will think: ‘Oh this is the real ending and that’s the fake ending.’ When it’s not you know…this is just an alternate. This is the way it could’ve gone. But it didn’t and I like it better how it is.”

Now personally I could never have imagined the series without Breaking Dawn, and am so glad that Stephanie decided to write the 4th book

Saoirse Ronan Cast as the Lead in Stephenie Meyer's 'The Host'

EXCLUSIVE: Saoirse Ronan has been set to star in The Host, the screen adaptation of the bestselling novel by Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer. Scripted by Andrew Niccol, the film figures to be one of the hot titles when Inferno launches sales at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival next week. Niccol, who was originally set to direct, might resurface as the filmmaker.

Ronan, the Oscar-nominated star of Atonement, The Lovely Bones and most recently Hanna, will play Melanie Stryder, one of the last humans putting up a fight against an alien species called Souls. These parasites invade human bodies, fuse to each person's consciousness and systematically erase their personalities. Melanie is captured by the aliens and implanted by a Soul called Wanderer, something of a legend because of all of the "hosts" she has attached to on numerous planets. Wanderer's goal is to get Melanie to give up the remaining pockets of humans, but instead the alien finds Melanie to be unique in her unwillingness to surrender her consciousness. Wanderer is so overwhelmed by Melanie's memories and feelings, the alien is driven to reconnect with Melanie's old life.

Examiner: "The Official Illustrated Guide" debuts number one on WSJ

Photobucket

Is The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide by Stephenie Meyer fiction or nonfiction? After reading the detailed portraits of the characters' lives contained within it, one might surmise that it is a work of fiction, especially since their backstories are told as fact when they are clearly the constructs of Meyer's fictional Twilight Saga world. However, there are sections, like the question and answer series between Meyer and fellow author Shannon Hale, which are nonfiction through and through. So, which is it? Both, apparently.

Last week, The Guide debuted at number four on IndieBound bestseller book list with the categorization, "Hardcover Fiction Bestsellers." USA Today also deemed it fiction on their list.

Now, The Wall Street Journal has unveiled its bestseller book list for the week of April 17th (The Guide hit shelves on April 12th), and The Guide debuted at number one!

lucky her !!

My experience with Stephenie Meyer and the other international winners was more than amazing, it was priceless. Meeting people from around the world that love the Twilight Saga as much as I do has been an eye-opening experience. I have made life long friends with the other winners. We will always be able to discussTwilight on a different level because of this fabulous opportunity afforded to us. Coming together and experiencing the amazing Stephenie Meyer is something that we experienced as a group. I will never forget the ten other winners and their guests. I have made life long friends with all of them. Many of these memories were shared with the one person that made all of this possible, Stephenie Meyer! I do not have enough words to describe how much of a wonderful, warmhearted person Stephenie is, plus she is the author of some of my favorite books!
The Possibilities are Endless:
But I bet you are wondering how all of this was possible. Well, on Wednesday, March 2nd, my grandma received a call from Ames from Little, Brown. Through the course of the call, Ames explained that I was the potential winner of the Twilight International Fan Event for the U.S., and that we should expect an overnight envelope with paperwork that needed to be notarized and signed. USA Today: ‘Twilight’ Fans Are on Team Meyer

This is a great article in which Stephenie answers some much asked fan questions. It’s so great to hear from Stephenie!
Ten lucky Twilight fans from around the world have come to this metropolitan Canadian city to meet the mega-selling author whose young-adult novels about an alluring vampire and his human soul mate have entranced them since 2005.
It’s hard to say who’s enjoying this total Twilight talkfest more — the attendees or the writer.
“I just love having the chance to sit down with a small group of fans,” says Meyer, who is looking a little moreHollywood these days and a bit less like a suburban mom of three. “Bigger events are just too nerve-racking.”

Super fans, super discussions

In roundtable discussions with Meyer at a Vancouver hotel, the winners discuss with finesse and endless authority vampire anatomy, werewolf legends, the back stories of the series’ minor characters and, of course, the Edward/Bella/Jacob love triangle. (Jacob is the werewolf who also loves Bella and is played in the films by the often shirtlessTaylor Lautner.)
But like seasoned journalists (many of these fans blog about the series), they’re also here to ferret out juicy details: When will Meyer publish a new novel? What’s it like being on the Twilight film set? What’s new in The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, a 543-page encyclopedic companion that Little, Brown will publish in hardcover for $24.99 on April 12? (The e-book will be available for $11.99 on April 13.)
Meyer, relaxed and happy to share, tells them plenty:
•On the illustrated guide: “My favorite part is the vampire histories. There’s a lot there that’s new. Alice’s (Cullen) back story is one no one has known until now. And I think fans will be surprised at how much fun (Cullen nemesis) Victoria’s story is.”
•On whether she’ll ever write more books about Edward and Bella: “The story’s already been told, and I doubt I’ll ever write another series based on the same characters.”
•On the possibility she’d ever finish Midnight Sun, a Twilight novel told from Edward’s viewpoint that she nixed when parts of it were leaked online in 2008: “I’m hoping to do it someday because I know that’s what people want. No matter what book I put out from here to eternity they’ll want Midnight Sun, but I’m just not writing about vampires right now.”
