Rob, Kristen And Mackenzie Will Be At SDCC!

Edward Cullen and Bella Swan have a lot on their plate at the moment, not the least of which is making sure their newborn daughter Renesmee is kept safe from the incoming forces of the Volturi. (Can't someone just explain that she's not an immortal child? Feels like a simple, diplomatic exchange might spare everyone some bloodshed, no?) But even with a very busy schedule on their hands, your favorite vampires and their closest friends would never leave you hanging where Comic-Con is concerned.

Consider it official, then: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are coming to Comic-Con! Summit Entertainment announced today (July 3) that the on-screen Edward and Bella will be at the San Diego show for a "Breaking Dawn" press conference held at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Thursday (July 12). Start lining up now, "Twilight" fans!

Joining Pattinson and Stewart are plenty of your other favorite "Twilight" stars, including Taylor Lautner, Peter Facinelli, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz. Also along for the ride is newcomer Mackenzie Foy, starring in "Breaking Dawn" as young half-vampire Renesmee.

Bill Condon Talks Breaking Dawn Secrecy and Honeymoon

Movieline caught up with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon in San Diego, where he made his first Comic-Con appearance, joining stars including Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner in debuting two revealing clips from the November release. But what parts of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (The wedding! The honeymoon! Imprinting!) will Condon fight to keep secret until the film lands in theaters?

I’ve seen every Twilight panel at Comic-Con over the years, and Kristen and Rob and Taylor really seemed more comfortable this time around.
Oh, good! Well, they’re getting older, right?
What were your feelings coming to Comic-Con this year? Every Twilight director has made an appeal to fans when they come aboard the franchise, whether through open letters or otherwise, and Comic-Con is a huge opportunity to actually engage with the fans to reassure them.
Exactly. That’s what’s been the best part of it, I have to say. Part of it is like a junket day, but the other part is showing footage to all the fans in one place. And that’s like having the best test screening you’ve ever imagined, really getting to expose it while we’re still working on it! Getting to expose it to a crowd like that was really fun.
What current work are you doing on Breaking Dawn?
Finishing up the cut now. I’d say another two, three weeks. And we start scoring and mixing in September.
When you were first announced to direct Breaking Dawn, you seemed a bit of an unusual choice.
Yes, sure — I hadn’t done action before.
Not only that, but the idea that Bill Condon would want to direct a Twilight movie! What were the reasons you were interested in the job, and how did you go about convincing Summit you were the right director?
You’d have to talk with them but I think it was the connection to the material that I felt. Because it’s all told from Bella’s point of view, I don’t know why I hook into her so much especially in this story. And my Kristen Stewart crush, you know? The idea that she was going to take this journey, I was really exciting to collaborate with her on that.
Breaking Dawn is also particularly challenging because, at least when I read it, I thought certain things and events might be unfilmable — the invisible powers colliding in the ether and, well, imprinting. How did you figure out how to approach those elements cinematically?
I think with imprinting it’s, more than anything, because the book does go into Jacob’s point of view…
[An engine revving on the street below interrupts]
Is that Kellan? [Laughs] But imprinting — I think it had to be told visually from Jacob’s point of view, but Jacob as magic creature. That’s the thing, that’s what it represents. It’s his magical wolf part that’s being expressed there, it’s not the guy who goes to high school and is on the reservation. Once you key into what the essential thing is, it helps to visualize it.
What is your strategy in regards to what to show and what not to show to fans?
I know! Well, it was hard this time, because I think there are just basic things. You don’t want to show Bella in the wedding dress…
Why?
Because we want to, as long as we can and I hope we can keep it until opening day! We want to keep it a surprise.
You went pretty long without even announcing the dress designer. So, until opening day, will you not reveal Bella’s dress?
If we have our way, which you know will never happen. [Laughs] But I’m hoping! Certainly today in July, we’re not going to show anything in the wedding dress, and I’m not going to show anything of her pregnant because that’s a whole transformation that she goes through. So you take that out of the equation and for Bella and Edward there’s really only the honeymoon, and for Jacob, it’s really not that many scenes. So it wasn’t really hard to figure out once you got to that point.
The Jacob scenes shown at Comic-Con were interesting because, as you mentioned on your panel, we’ll see things that don’t really happen in the book. How did you decide what to tweak?
I think it’s just that, in a movie, you want to really concentrate things. It’s all suggested in the book that once he breaks with Sam and the pack they have this threat now, but in the movie it becomes a clear idea that they [the Cullens] are under siege, and that Sam and the rest of the wolves are circling them, just waiting — and that the Cullens haven’t fed so they’re hungry, they’re weak. The wolves are either going to attack as soon as one of them leaves to feed, or they’ll wait for them to get too weak. It’s a real tension that builds up, it’s a very strong suspense idea.
I like that Jacob’s scene in the woods is evocative of a double agent reveal in a spy movie.
Exactly! And when you see it in the movie, you don’t know — Jacob might be telling the truth at that point.
There are so many iconic scenes in the book; how do you walk the line of romanticizing the feathers-at-the-honeymoon scene, or deciding how gory to go with the birth scene, in a PG-13 movie?
You know it’s not going to be an R-rated movie, so it’s a great challenge. How do you have the experience without having to be too explicit about it. I think that’s not a hard thing to do. No one wants to see — no oneneeds to see a full-on sex scene to have the incredibly intense experience that they’re making love, you know? And it’s more romantic. The same with the birth; I think it’s very visceral, but it doesn’t necessarily need close-ups of certain things.
Did you track the fan reaction when the honeymoon footage leaked?
Oh, yeah. That was upsetting.
I can imagine — so much got out. But fans seemed to love what you did in that sex scene. Especially, if I may point out, the bed breaking glimpsed in the trailer. It’s sexy.
[Laughs] I think it’s good. I hope people feel that way.

Pattinson: Adegan Persalinan 'TWILIGHT' Bakal Mengerikan

Pattinson: Adegan Persalinan 'TWILIGHT' Bakal Mengerikan

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart talk Breaking Dawn and Comic-Con

Their fans had been lining up to see them since Monday, press outlets from all over the world converged on San Diego just to catch a glimpse of the duo, but what had Breaking Dawn stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart genuinely grinning from ear to ear? The opportunity to sit down for an interview...together.

"This is great," Rob enthused, bumping shoulders with his co-star as they took their seats. "We haven't done an interview together in forever!"

The actors at the heart of one of the most biggest franchises Hollywood has ever seen are often criticized for being too reserved or laconic but this Thursday afternoon they were anything but. From their favourite finale moments to the perils of fame, Pattinson and Stewart took the time to open up to Cineplex about their incredibly anticipated fall film. Check out some highlights of the interview below:

Comic-Con 2011: Taylor Lautner, Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed Hit Thursday Events

Both Thursday and Friday, the lounge was a good place to get some decent free food and drink and get a little work done – if you could take your eyes off the people hoofing it along with a demo of Ubisoft’s Just Dance 3 inside. Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Andy Serkis, Alexa Vega, Ryan Kwanten and Justin Timberlake all popped in (Timberlake’s 901 Silver tequila was well represented in the drinks menu).
Lutz and Reed were also at the Hard Rock Hotel later that night for the Summit party, which had a relaxed vibe, an open bar, good weather and a refreshing lack of overcrowding. Unsurprisingly, the shindig was heavy on Twilight talent, with Taylor Lautner, director Bill Condon and producer Wyck Godfrey on-hand. Rachel Nichols of Conan the Barbarian and Star Trek was there, along with Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones and writer-producer Roberto Orci (Cowboys & Aliens,Fringe). Also, there were lots of Butterfingers.

'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn' Countdown: Comic-Con TwiHards Return

Get out those folding chairs, clean out that cooler, and bring plenty of sunscreen. After a year's hiatus, The Twilight Saga will be back at Comic-Con. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 panel will be in the 6,500-seat Hall H at 11:00am a week from today on July 21st. This means fans will start camping out the night before in the plaza that abuts Hall H.
So what exactly is in store for fans this year? So far, Summit Entertainment is pretty tight-lipped, but going on past experience, several things are likely. The top items to look for are footage, a fan event, and the trio, A.K.A Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, and Kristen Stewart.
Aside from all the events on Thursday, July 21st  there is another event, and that is the anticipated fan camping that will take place in the plaza next to the convention center. Plenty will be lining up overnight hoping to get front row seats. I decided to talk to some of the Comic Con experts in the fandom about this year’s panel. With The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 panel going first on the Hall H schedule, things maybe a little different than in the past.  Veteran Comic-Con attendee @OhMyCarlisle on Twitter had this take. She felt that, “No matter where you are in the room you will see the presentation. There are large screens throughout Hall H…Just remember before camping out that…chances are you will not be in the front. If you want to ask a question, don’t try to get in the front. Head to the walls where the microphones are set up. If you try to get up to ask a question during the panel you’ll be way too late.” She also had this to say for those who are nervous about spending the night in the great outdoors, “You don’t have to camp out to get in, but you do need to arrive early. Your goal should be to be in the room, which should happen if you are there no later than 7:00am.”

Movie Studios Reassess Comic-Con: Breaking Dawn Part 1

Looks like Summit Entertainment might just have a Breaking Dawn panel for Part 1. Schedule for the panel will be released next month! Until then, we don’t have confirmation, but let’s discuss!

Comic-Con, which attracts about 130,000 people, usually doesn’t lock in its schedule of presentations until two weeks before the convention — a practice that keeps studio publicists on edge, as they struggle to wrangle stars for appearances in slots that remain at a premium.

David Glanzer, the convention’s director of marketing, said he didn’t detect any major shift in the film industry’s stance toward Comic-Con.

“We get more and more requests, and have less ability to fulfill them,” he said, adding, “Not every studio comes every year.”

For certain, Big Hollywood will still be represented. Universal is plotting a stunt for “Cowboys & Aliens,” which has the advantage of a July 29 release date, when memories of a Comic-Con splash will be fresh. Paramount plans to trot out “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn,” with a possible appearance by its director, Steven Spielberg.

Twentieth Century Fox is expected to tackle Comic-Con head-on, particularly with its “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” which arrives in theaters on Aug. 5. And Sony will roll out an aggressive promotion for its “The Amazing Spiderman,” even though the film won’t be seen until July 2012.

And the light schedule of some major studios leaves a void that newer players want to fill. Relativity Media, once a film financier and now a producer, is expected to make a push at the convention for “Immortals” and “The Raven,” while promoting “Shark Night 3-D,” which is bloodier than the convention usually tolerates.

Among smaller studios, Lionsgate, which won strong results last year for “The Expendables,” will be back; and Summit Entertainment will stage a panel for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1.”
